Come on Monkfish, are you serious? No! Never take things seriously, life is too short for that. So if that means eating your boiled eggs (with soldiers) from a Sumo egg cup then do it…imagine the fun?! Here’s a film to prove it….
So, you’ve got your Sumo egg cups, what else do you need in your life…a trip to Wales? I think so, particularly if you can visit somewhere like this…
This is THE DO FARM, a unique venue in Wales for creative types who like ‘off-site’ meetings but best of all they serve up amazing food in cool tents. We want to go there NOW!
Cool ain’t it?
Thinking about Christmas yet? Eeek…well, you can start a bit of present shopping research can’t you? This is ideal for the nuts in your life..

Why are ALL water bottles round? Well they’re not any more…how handy is this?
Perhaps a tad hipster, will it take off? Pretty inventive we think plus it’s dishwasher friendly, re-usable, BPA free. Get one!
Thanks to Swiss-Miss for inspiration as always 🙂
Crumbs, it’s been a while since we popped up on a Monday and just to confuse matters further it’s actually Wednesday. No matter Monkfish fans, let’s cut to the chase and tell you what’s happening in the world of food and drink and all things on #trend. Continue reading
Happy New Year Monkfish fans! We’re starting the year off with some food for thought thanks to The Food People. We like to follow the trends here at the Towers and this lovely infographic tells you what’s what for 2014.
…what do you all think? Spot on, ahead of the curve or heard it all before? Let us know your thoughts… We particularly like ‘Guts & Glory‘- street food climbs to a new level, it’s about people taking risks and the ‘upscaling trash food’ – sounds intriguing.
So for the year ahead Mrs Monkfish is back to business as usual (that’s BAU for the financial services fans ;)) and will be bringing you the latest goings on, where’s hot and where’s not and general foodie chit chat. For now she’s just away to have another slice of Christmas cake…and maybe a wee sherry. TTFN. Hic.
If you fancy heading West at the beginning of October for a bit of street food and some cool tunes then the second offKILTR Glasgow Street Feastival is taking place at The Barras Art and Design Centre – Friday 4th October to Sunday 6th October. Continue reading
It’s here again, Monkfish Monday….here’s some lovely things for you to dig into…
On your doorstep the Cross & Corner, one of the two new drinking dens to open in sunny Canonmills, Edinburgh. Formerly Maclachlan’s Ale House for the ‘elderly gent’ now an uber cool bar for the craft ale and real food fans. AND, they’ve got chairs like these….
And, if the chairs aren’t enough for you then you’ll be pleased to hear they serve up a lovely draft Kernel Table Beer, one that Mrs Monkfish has been partaking in of late. At only 2.9% (some would argue 3%) but tasting at least like a 6.5% this is ultra hoppy, super light IPA, full on flavour for your money.
If you’re a geek a la Mr Monkfish then you’ll probably read Monocle? In the latest issue the Kernel Brewery has a double page spread although they themselves are small yet perfectly formed. Issue 65 out now.
Another ‘one to watch’ is Clyde Valley Tomatoes…
Based in the Clyde Valley (no way!) they’re on a quest to bring some major attention to the good old tom. Bang, 2013 has been a great year for them and they’ve already launched the Clyde Valley Kitchen creating dishes with their tomatoes and other scottish artisanal produce.
Food for thought…meet Danielle Evans, a food typographer, now that’s a seriously nice job.
What do you buy your food mad friend who has EVERYTHING in their kitchen? Try this..
Catch you next week for more Monkfish Monday trends, tips and tomato chat 🙂
