Really want to go out to eat but
a) don’t have the energy
b) no babysitter
c) would have to get changed from your joggers and hoodie (depending on restaurant of choice….)
d) can’t drag yourself away from the last series of Game of Thrones so eating on sofa is the only option….

Really want to go out to eat but
We’re delighted to be able to introduce a guest blog post this week written for us by Chet Sharma, of TRULY Experiences. Chet has previously worked in the kitchens of L’Enclume, Mugaritz and Le Manoir aux’Quat Saisons.
Here’s what he has to say on the subject of….
‘Farm to Table‘
The past decade has seen a push from chefs, the media and aristocratic foodies alike for more sustainably sourced food, preferably coming from local producers and vendors. I should know – I’m one of them. Having been involved in setting up Britain’s largest restaurant farm, I take every opportunity to champion the ‘farm-to-table’ movement.
And, on the surface, it’s working. Just pay a visit to one of the numerous food and farmers’ markets to see this revolution in effect. As we speak, crowds are flocking in the thousands to buy the season’s finest broad beans, peas and asparagus. It’s easy to conclude that the years of campaigning for more sustainably sourced ingredients have produced lasting change. Continue reading

OK, we’ve all been there…ssshhhhh…*adopts whispering tone*…”Iceland”…or have we?
Maybe not the country but perhaps the shop? Maybe maybe not but don’t be ashamed to admit that you watched ‘Life in the Freezer‘, the documentary that the Beeb ran at the end of 2013. Anyway, we’re not here to discuss the pros and cons of a high street shop we are here to tell you all about ‘COOK‘ – ie ‘remarkable food for your freezer’ and here at the Towers we are about to decide if it is indeed remarkable or not. Read on. Continue reading
Specialising in ‘donuts’, hello (!!) and all things ‘baked and savoury’ you are assured of a great coffee, a pretty awesome donut (doughnut??) and a rather large wall adorned with lovely green plants. Now there aren’t many places in Edinburgh that can do that. A great selection of freshly baked bread greets you at the door too. You’re not going to leave empty handed that’s for sure.
Cunningly disguised as a ‘jewellery repair workshop’ on Brunswick Street, EH7, we urge you to visit our new local hangout. We’ve been waiting for this in our neck of the woods…and in the words of Hot Chip…we ‘Need you Now‘ you tasty tasty donuts!
And if you’re wondering where the name came from pop in to see Hollie and talk to her about Dylan Thomas then all will become clear….kind of.

We’ve been fans of Scottish cold-pressed rapeseed oil for a long long time at the Towers. It’s such a great alternative to olive oil (and others) and without boring you with all the technical stuff it’s actually better for you, tick tick.
When Mrs M was asked to be the ‘star’ of a brand new ‘movie’ all about rapeseed oil she ran as fast as she could to B&Q, purchased the obligatory green wellies and set off to East Lothian to the film set pronto. What you’re about to watch is a short film produced by the groovy Coolbox Marc featuring Mrs M…sometimes with her wellies on and sometimes not, sometimes in slow-mo and sometimes not. She’s actually pretty good in slow-mo…
Enjoy the movie….then run out and purchase some rapeseed oil cos it’s brilliant and you’ll love it x
