This morning mymonkfish went to spy on the new Earthy Foods in Portobello, a sister store from Dirk and his ‘Earthling’ crew at Ratcliffe Terrace.  Freshly opened (just yesterday!) the store has a huge amount of space and is bursting with fresh produce, artisan bread (delivered daily), organic eggs and cheese, meat, and other locally sourced delights. The huge warehouse space is an old disused tool hire shop, it has a great feel and has been kitted out with reclaimed wood ‘Earthy style’ with some very nice touches – an old SMEG fridge out front currently housing tomatoes and juice, vintage wooden crates for the abundance of artisan breads, various vintage mirrors and pictures dotted about all ‘reclaimed’ and lovingly ‘re-used’.  I’m in heaven, the BEST food in Edinburgh and housed in the most loveliest environment in which to sell it.

A deli bar is in the offing very soon which will offer a similar range of food to the Ratcliffe Terrace cafe plus coffees to take away. What a monkfish scoop I got for you today, you heard it here first. Exciting is an understatement, please support our local shops and get there quick sharp!   And tell all your friends too….
